Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Wat Bang Kung & the Railway Market at Samut Songkram
This tour features 3 fantastic excursions from Bangkok in 1 day.
The Floating Markets of Damnoen Saduak
Experience the way Bangkok used to be before the skyscrapers and cars at the floating markets of Damnoen Saduak approximately 100km outside of Bangkok, with its extraordinary range of colours, fragrances and flavours.
We'll approach the floating markets of Damnoen Saduak on a narrow long-tail speedboat through the marshes as we pass by traditional riverside villages and fruit plantations.
The locals produce and market good here which they sell on there small flat-bottom boats. The market itself is a fabulous site that has to be experienced to be fully appreciated.
Wat Bang Kung Temple
Dating back to the Ayutthaya Period, the beautiful and historically significant temple of Wat Bang Kung (The Banyan Tree Temple) is one of the most interesting and famous temples in Thailand as the name suggests, this chapel is actually perched in a tree, with the tree's roots acting like pillars to support it.
After exploring this fascinating temple we'll travel to the Railway Market.
Railway Market in Samut Songram
We're sure you've been to many markets before, but have you been to a fabulous market set-up on an active railway line!? The railway market as Samut Songram is a vibrant market and the largest fresh seafood market in Thailand as well as selling many other goods such as fresh fruit and vegetables, herbs and spices and much more.
When a train approaches market vendors move there stools away from the tracks leaving just enough room for the train to squeeze through, as soon as it has the stools are moved back!
This is a fascinating market in itself, but the originality of it being based on an active railway line make it a must see for anyone holidaying in Bangkok.
Return to Bangkok
After our tour of the region has finished and you've seen the Floating market, explored Wat Bang Kung Temple and had a guided tour of Samut Songram railway market we'll travel back to Bangkok City and your hotel.
